In the subsequent 24 years, the popularity of DNA testing has exploded, with over 26 million kits having been used and purchased. Due to this, the number of people interested in finding their ancestors from these results and creating family trees has also increased, transforming genealogy from a niche, largely paper-based hobby to an activity that is well-known and has a thriving online community.
