Families and friends have flocked to the common land in Blackheath to watch the dazzling light displays, since the 1980s. The large area of heathland used to boast up to 100,000 visitors during its annual breathtaking firework displays. However, as a result of council budget cuts, it was cancelled for the fourth year in a row.
