‘Beckham’ arrived on screens on the 4th of October, a docu-series exploring David Beckham’s athletic career as well as his marriage to Victoria Beckham. I admit - I am not the biggest fan of football, so I was not exactly on the edge of my seat. However, a certain clip sparked the interest of the internet which showed Victoria Beckham discussing her working class family, to which David Beckham stuck his head out from the doorway telling her to be honest. Viewers then found out what car Victoria was driven to school in; a very humble Rolls Royce. While I don’t dispute the fact that her family were hard working, there is a distinct difference between owning a Rolls Royce and being working class, one being that the former may be an indication that you are not. Class in the UK has always been a prominent topic, and nowadays the lines are becoming more blurred on what even defines one's social status. Is it your income level? Social mobility?
